Weirdshire presents a 2 day feast of goodness: Trappist Afterland, Gentle Good, Henry Parker, Y Brawd, The Brackish, Howie Reeve
Saturday
Trappist Afterland (Adam Geoffrey Cole) will be releasing their 11th LP - Kindren Hymnal - in 2026 and supporting the release with a UK and European tour. Weirdshire regulars will know Adam’s music well, as he been coming over from Australia to bless us with his music regularly over the last decade. Blending drone, folk influences, voices, various acoustic stringed instruments, tabla, percussion, harmonium and Tanpura drones. We are delighted he is coming again.
And not only but also - two real Weirdshire favourites will be joining Adam on this night:
Henry Parker has been soooo busy these last few years - playing his psych/folk guitar driven songs, and collaborating with a great many, and garnering rave reviews in the glossy music magazines in the process. He will joining Adam for his set, and playing solo.
The Gentle Good (Gareth Bonello) absolutely delighted us on his previous visit, bringing his enchanting melodies, intricate guitar style and beautiful acoustic arrangements. As a former winner of both the Welsh Language Album of the Year and the Welsh Music Prize, Gareth has long been a prominent musician on the Welsh music scene. The new album ‘Elan’ is a psychedelic portrait of the Elan Valley in Powys, Wales. It was written during a year-long residency in the Cambrian Mountains and explores the landscape, history and politics of the valley.
Y Brawd is a new and mysterious project featuring Denmark’s David Drost (Moongazing Hare) and Welsh author Greg Selby
Sunday
Howie: angular, unique song structures, violent and sensitive, compassionate and righteous - always utterly genuine. Virtuosic acoustic bass guitar, a stage presence which never fails to connect. No-one is left untouched.
The Brackish sound is characterised by its use of dynamics, long-form composition and improvisation. Face melting heaviness gives way to gentle, spacious soundscapes within a single composition. Kraut-like grooves, polyrhythms, violent melodic statements and psychedelic, freeform improvisation are present in equal measure. Always expressed with a strong emphasis on melody and narrative, aiming to take the listener on journeys of much needed escapism.
